Artist in Residence - Jardin botanique de Marnay sur seine (France)

  • La Maison verte du jardin botanique 25 Rue du Four Marnay-sur-Seine, Grand Est, 10400 France (map)

The Botanical Garden of Marnay-sur-Seine (one hour from Paris) offers residencies of creation and research at La Maison Verte within the artistic program Pays’Art. Jess Coldrey will be an artist in residence for two weeks in September 2021 to work on her project ‘Australia-France Endometriosis Pain Visualisation Project’, generously funded by the Australian-French Association for Research and Innovation (AFRAN).

The aim of the Pays’Art program is to open a field of reflection and expression towards a paradigm shift in the anthropocene era. Works created by the artists will be able to be presented to the public, not only in the garden, but also in the village and externally in the spaces of our partnerships. Artists will be able to leave a work at the end of their stay, leaving a trace of their stay and contributing towards building an artistic heritage.

Pays’Art is a concept that emerges from the mesology, that is to say the science of natural environment, that studies in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary way, the relationship between beings in general, or human beings in particular, with their natural environment. Jess plans to use this program to help her explore endometriosis pain communication using flowers. She plans to draw on the diverse experiences of community participants in Melbourne and Paris, threading together words, metaphors, symbols, and visual imagery to act as a basis for pain communication. A public exhibition will share this work with AFRAN members and the local community, with EndoFrance’s president as an honoured guest.
